Enriching Los Angeles's cultural landscape and sharing the art of Capoeira with youth and adults through out the city are a central focus for CB-LA. After-school programs, educational assemblies and public workshops are a large part of the group's event calendar. Mestre Boneco also offers a scholarship program to under-resourced youth that express a dedicated desire to train the art of Capoeira and learn about its rich history of struggle and liberation. CB-LA's mission is making physical, mental, and social health a reality through the movement, music, and tradition of Capoeira.
CB-LA has been featured on NBC's Today show, CNN's Headline News Channel, FOX News, KABC-TV, FOX 11's Good Day LA and Better Bodies, NBC's EXTRA, Univision's Primer Impacto, Telemundo's Morning News, the KTLA Morning Show, Dr. 90210, VH1's Hollywood's Tighest Bodies, and many other local and national television programs. Capoeira Brasil was also the subject of an LA Times feature story (Jan. 21, 2003) and Several SELF magazine fitness and feature articles (August. 2004, July 2005, & Sept. 2007).
CB-LA is home to many of Hollywood's top martial artists, trainers, acrobats, stuntmen and actors. Members of the organization have choreographed and worked on a number of high profile projects and are continually sought after for their experience, creativity, awesome ability and professionalism.
